It was common to find the same individual referred to with different spellings of their surname. By example, the famous playwright William Shakespeare signed his name with different spellings and legal documents added further to the possible variations. \u201cShakespeare,\u201d \u201cShakespere,\u201d \u201cShakespear,\u201d \u201cShakspere\u201d and \u201cShaxspere\u201d were all used in reference to this famous individual.
